On Saturday February 23rd over 10 supporters of the PTUDC in Montreal attended a workshop about the recent elections in Pakistan. The workshop was hosted by the International Marxist Tendency.

Lorenzo Fiorto of the IMT presented on the situation in Pakistan, giving a general history of the struggles in Pakistan and highlighting the fraudulent elections as a move to back the PLM(N) and the right-wing of the PPP. The presentation was followed by a great discussion on many different aspects of the current situation in Pakistan. Everyone was interested in learning about the work of PTUDC and The Struggle in Pakistan and the key role they are playing as they bring forward an alternative to imperlialism or fundamentalism.

A Pakistani woman who attended the event was surprised and happy to learn that their were socialist candidates running in the election. She thanked everyone for the event and promised to help the next event penetrate the Pakistani community in Montreal. This is just the start and we will be holding more events in solidarity with the struggle of the Pakistani workers for their emancipation.
