Pak-Saudi Fertilisers, which earned Rs 7 billion from 1996 to 2002, was disposed of for Rs 4 billion in the name of privatisation.

The fertiliser plant was installed at a cost of Rs 20 billion but now the construction of such a unit would be arround Rs 50 billion.

The fate of PSF would be parallel to that of Pak-China Fertilisers. This unit was bought by the Schon Group and now it was closed.

PTUDC Rawalpindi organised a demonstration against privatization of Pak-Saudi Fertilisers in front of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club on March 28, 2002. Demonstrators chanted slogans against privatisation, down-sizing, cuts in wages, inflation and capitalist system.
